Members Discounts

The Society has negotiated a range of discounts for its members in relation  to certain on-line genealogical products and services.

Following are the discounts currently on offer for GSI members

Findmypast Ireland (www.findmypast.ie) offers a 50% discount

Find My Past Ireland was launched in May 2011, and is part of the D.C. Thompson group of companies.  It has major databases relating to court rentals, petty sessions, prison registers, registries of births, marriages and deaths and many more

 

Irish Newspaper Archives (www.irishnewspaperarchive.com) offers a 25% discount

Irish Newspaper Archives holds digitised copies of the Irish Independent and Irish Press, each since their foundation dates, The Freeman’s Journal, and many other national and local newspapers.  (It does not have The Irish Times)

Flatcaps and Bonnets (www.flatcapsandbonnets.com) provides a 20% discount on their range of DVDs.

Flatcaps and Bonnets has produced a series of CDs of historical and genealogical documents which are copyright-free.  Of particular interest to Irish members are three discs entitled Province of Leinster, Province of Munster, and Provinces of Connacht and Ulster. Each of these discs contains an enormous library of books about Ireland plus certain specific documents relating to the province concerned.  Fuller details here, including details of how GSI members can obtain a discount.

Forces War Records (www.forces-war-records.co.uk)GSI Members get 40% off the first month’s subscription for the Forces War Records database, which normally costs UK£8.95 for 28 days, for just GBP5.00.

Forces War Records, as the name suggests, has large databases relating to military service over the past 300 years and more
